CIPR Thames & Chiltern was named Group of the Year at the Institute’s AGM on June 19th. We think this is the first time that Thames & Chiltern has been recognised with this award, so the committee - and our members - have a double reason to celebrate!
Here’s the press release from CIPR HQ:
The CIPR’s Education & Skills sectoral group and Thames & Chiltern regional group each received a Group of the Year Award at the Institute’s AGM on 19 June for work carried out in 2006.
These annual awards recognise the outstanding contribution over the past 12 months of the CIPR groups to the Institute’s work in raising industry standards.
2006 CIPR President Tony Bradley, who presented the awards, said: “Every year the CIPR recognises the hard work, dedication and achievements of its groups and the committees that run them. The CIPR Education & Skills and Thames & Chiltern groups provide a range of high quality services to members and are champions of best practice. They are working in new and innovative ways and are promoting key industry messages to different audiences, adding to the ‘voice’ of the CIPR. It gives me great pleasure to present each with a Group of the Year Award for their outstanding work and contribution to the Institute.”
Emma Leech, Chair of the Education and Skills Sector Group, said: “This is a major achievement for us as a relatively new group and we’re delighted that the hard work and enthusiasm of our members has been recognised by the CIPR with this prestigious award. The group has been keen to respond to its growing membership and we’ve sought to deliver cutting-edge events and opportunities supported by useful guides and networking opportunities. This is really starting to pay off and we hope to be able to continue to raise the bar in developing best practice in our sector and beyond. “
Nicky Davis, Chair of CIPR Thames & Chiltern from 2006-7, said: “We are really thrilled with this recognition from the CIPR, which reflects this group’s ongoing commitment to provide real value to members in the region. The committee has worked hard to deliver a full programme of networking and professional events and we’ve been delighted with the support and fantastic response from our members.”
Current CIPR Thames & Chiltern Chair Caroline Kinsey added: “On behalf of all CIPR members within our region, I would like to thank Nicky for her leadership which resulted in this award. We will continue to develop our support for members, and hopefully see if we can be the first region to win this award two years running.”
